Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Carburetor leaks..., crankcase oil, max rpms

Question
Hello M. Bridgers,
I got a Tecumseh H70 engine and the carb is freshly rebuilt.I soaked the carb blew air and changed everything in it.(carb kit: niddle, float, seals, springs everything.)I also got the 11/64 gap needed for the float for proper start, seat is properly seated also. Everything looks great.Started the engine, made my adjustments and shut the engine down. After a couple of minutes the carb started to leak from the choke hole( I presume from the main air bleed but not sure). So I took it apart again and again and again and still the same problem. What could the problem be?
Also what should the max rpm be for a h50 and a h70 so I can set it properly is it 3200 or 3450, not sure. I need your help...
Jason

Answer
Hello Jason:

Set the RPM to 3200 Max on Both. I have Many Engines on the Lawn Equipment and have Found 3200 Max RPMs is Better and I Do Not have Major Engine Problems as Often. If this Carburetor has the O-Ring Seat, then: 1- Look at the Seat. There is a Right Way and Wrong Way to Place them into the Carburetor Housing. If you Look Closely, you can See that One Side is Flat and the Other is Rounded Slightly. The Flat Side Goes Into the Housing First so the Rounded Side is Mating to the Float Needle Valve. 2- I have Purchased a Batch of Carburetor Kits with the O-Ring Seat. The Complete Batch had Bad Seats. 3- Is the Carburetor Float Level with the Bowl Mating Surface. this Works Better than the 11/64 Gap. Sometimes the Gap is Slightly Off and the Carburetor Floods. I Suggest you Install a Manual Cut Off and Turn Off the Gas Flow to the Carburetor when Not Using the Engine. If the Engine is Running Proper, then No Harm is Done and you can be Sure that if the Float Ever did Leak, you will Not have Gas Contaminating the Crankcase Oil. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the T. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers. Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
