Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 12.5 briggs to 14.5 Briggs, question pool, penetrating oil

Question
I am doing the 12.5 to 14.5 change on an older Craftsman II riding mower. 2 part question - what is the trick to getting the old pulley off the engine and I have no wire to put on the fuel solenoid to hook to ignition switch - is this just a standard connector, both solenoid terminals and 1 wire? Thanks

Answer
Hello Rob:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool. Use Plenty of Penetrating Oil and A Small Amount of Heat to Remove the Pulley. Before Installing the Pulley on the New Engine Clean the Pulley of Rust and Apply a Coating of Never Seize to the Crankshaft. This will Prevent Rust from Building and Make Future Removal of the Pulley Easier. The Fuel Solenoid has Current ONLY when the Ign Switch is in the Spring Loaded Start and the Run Position ONLY. When the Ign is Turned to the Off Position the Solenoid has No Voltage going to it. You can Run your Own Wire from the Ign Switch to the Solenoid. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
