Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 6Hp 4 cycle lawn boy with a tecumsah engine, internal passages, spec numbers

Question
The engine starts but will not continue to run after its primed. I cleaned the carb & gas tank & replaced the silver pump rod that is attached to the float. I have fresh gas in it.I cleaned the rubber primer bulb as well as the air filter.

Did you Change the Spark Plug and Gap it at .030in? Did you Soak the Carburetor or Just Use Spray Cleaner? If you Did Not Soak the Carburetor, then the Internal Passages May Still be Restricted and Causing this Problem. What is the Compression? If the Compression is Less then 80psi, then the Engine Can Not Draw Gas Through the Carburetor and the Valves or Bad Rings May be the Cause of this Problem. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug or Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please.
