Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): something drainning battery, battery cable, key switch

Question
Hi Eric I have a wizard made by mtd mod# 13an698g098 and the problem I'm having is that their something draining a brand new battery I've put on. I have look at the wiring harness and i don't see any bare wires. Is their any test that i can do to fix this problem? I was told that I have a short somewhere grounding it out; If so where do I look ? by the way the fuse is not blown and theres not enough power to start the engine Thanks Any help would be a blessing

Answer
If you have a voltmeter you can dis-connect the positive battery cable and place the meter between the battery post and battery cable end to see if there is any voltage being drawn with the key off.

Once in a while the ignition key switch will go bad and drain the battery.

Let me know if you have any voltage draw with the meter.
