Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Cub Cadet model 1030, customer service phone number, mtd products

Question
The mower starts and runs until it gets hot then stops. After it cools ( 10-15 minutes) it will start and run until it gets warm. I took the carburetor off and cleaned it and replaced the fuel filter but no help. I put a armature on but made no difference. # 28d707 is the number on the motor. 10 HP IC B&S. Thanks. Paul

Answer
Hello Paul:

Even though you have Replaced the Magneto/Ign Coil, it May Still be Bad. I have had so Many New Parts that have to be Replaced because they are Bad that I Never Rule Anything Out. I Suggest you; 1- Check the Gas Tank Cap and Ensure it is Venting the Tank Properly. If the Cap is Not Venting the Tank, it Causes a Vacuum to Occur in the Tank and this Stops the Gas Flow to the Carburetor After About 10 to 20 Minutes of Engine Operation. 2- Operate the Engine Until it Quits and Check for Fire at the Plug/s. If No Fire, then Disconnect the Shut Off Wire from the Magneto/Ign Coil and See if the Engine Starts. If the Engine Starts, then Depending on the Model Mower there May be a Relay or a Safety Switch that May be Causing the Problem. 3- Operate the Engine Unitl it Quits and then Check the Compression. If the Compression is Less than 80PDI, then there May be a Valve Problem or a Ring Problem. This is a Flat Head Engine and the Valve Clearance May Require Resetting. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The 1030 is the Series Model Numbers. If you Require Assistance in Locating the Model Numbers, then Generally the identification tag is on a part of the unit that, even after years of use, rarely needs replacement. For most of MTD power equipment, these tags are approximately 2" by 3" in size. They also have the MTD Products name, address and customer service phone number listed across the bottom. For hand held product, the tag is normally white and approximately 1" by 1/2" in size. Hand held i.d. tags are normally on an aluminum portion of the engine, somewhat set into the unit to protect the label from wear. (A bar code will also be on this tag.) Riding mower tags are located on the underside of the seat. For walk behind mowers this tag is found either on the deck or on the rear door of rear discharge units. Tiller model and serial tags are generally on the tine housing. The model and serial tags for two-stage snow throwers are located on the bottom of the main gear housing which is often called the belly pan, while single stage snow thrower tags are next to the key and primer. For other products like log splitters, chipper shredders and edgers, tags can be found on the frame or main housing. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
