Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kohler OHV 18.5 HP on craftsman LT1000, craftsman lt1000, kohler ohv

Question
If I pull the plug the engine spins great. Changed starter, still won't hardly turn to start. Even put car battery & no start. Acts like extreme compression stopping it. Also directly charged starter solenoid. No luck. Is there a timing error possible like on a car to make it unable to start, or is something else likely? Thanks!

Answer
Hello Jerry:

Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. However, it is Possible the Flywheel Key is Damaged and the Plug is Firing Out of Time or Depending on the Model the Valve Clearance May Require Re-Setting so the Compression Release will Function Properly. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
