I have an old billy goat vacuum machine with a b&s 8hp engine, model 190432 type 0830-01 code 76091411.
The ignition armature is not working, replacements are fairly expensive over here and a wait of approx 2 weeks for my local supplier to order one.
I have a friend who has a new unit from a intek 5.5hp unit, i notice the obvious difference between the two engines is the flywheel diameter b&s is 202mm intek is 182mm meaning the feet of the armature wouldn't lie parrallel with the b&s flywheel, i have access to a lathe and can turn the base of the armature to fit to a 202mm diameter flywheel, if i did this do you think it would work or are there any other differences internal of the unit. Maybe it would work without any modification.
Are you aware of why various models have differing armature part numbers is it because of the flywheel diameters???.

Flywheels are made for specif engines according to a few things one is weight,diameter,height and the magnet strength. It is not advisable to adjust a Flywheel to work on another engine as you may get a different timing setting or kick back or even worse have a engine blow up because it is spinning with too many RPM's Plus the fact that you have a 294628 Point Set So even the Armature has to be the correct because of the windings.

described below.
NOTE: Do not assume that armatures are the source of ignition trouble! Many times ignition failure
symptoms can be the result of equipment interlock problems, ignition switch malfunctions, shorted ground
wires, defective or fouled spark plugs, etc.
