Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Yard Tractor Brakes, dana transaxle, compression spring

Question
I have old craftsman tractor 917-255812. The brake pads are worn out, no adjustment left either. I can not find part number on sears site. Do you have suggestions where to look, and how to replace.

Thanks, Carl

Answer
Hello Carl:

The Brake Pads for the Transaxles are Mostly the Same Pads for Most Transaxles. This is a Dana/Foot Transaxle Model # 4150-6 and You can View a Breakdown of the Transaxle at this Site Addy; http://www.m-and-d.com/dana_foote_parts.html and Scroll Down to the View Dana/Foote Parts Diagram Window. Now Scroll in this Window to your Model Transaxle. I Located the Brake Pucks (pads) at this Site Addy; http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ or you can Call them at 1-877-707-2787. The Part Number for the Pucks/Pads is Dana # 3242 (Outdoor Dist Price was ($8.69us). Be Sure to Ask if they Still Come as a Set of 2. If you Require the Spacer and Compression Spring, then the PNs are Dana # 3293 for the Spacer and Dana # 1479 for the Compression Spring. You can Give these Part Numbers to the Parts Rep at Outdoor Distributors and they can Assist you. You can Also Give them the Dana Transaxle Model Numbers. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
