Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Zama Carburetor, zama carburetors, ryobi trimmer

Question
Hi John,  I am trying to get an old Ryobi trimmer running. It is a model 775r and has a Zama C1U carb.  I have soaked and blown the carb.  Installed a new carb kit and now when I prime the carb excessive gas runs out of the back of the carb.  It only happens when I try to prime the unit.  What have I done wrong and is there an internal check valve sticking in the main body of the carburetor?
Thanks for the help,
Randy

Answer
Hello Randy:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Carburetor and Get Technical Information on Zama Carburetors at this Site Addy; http://www.zamacarb.com/tips.html and Select the Technical Guide. You should be Able to Use this Guide to Correct Any Mistakes you May have Made During the Re-Assembly of the Carburetor. It Sounds like the Pulse Pump Needle is Set too High and Allowing the Carburetor to Flood when you Prime it. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
