Question
QUESTION: hey john i have a ariens st724 blower had engine fixed putting belts back on auger belt works fine drive belt just spins when i engage drive handle i dont think i have it either ran right or there  is a metal hoop type bracket that bolts on the engine does this have anything to do with belt tension thanks rich

ANSWER: Hello Rich:

Sorry for the Delay. High Winds Downed Trees and my Electric and Phone Service has been on and Off. More Off than On. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The ST724 is the Series Model Numbers. Thers are 36 Different Models of the ST724 Series. The Componet you are Asking about May be a Belt Guard and Does Not have Anything to Do with Belt Tension. Thanks.

Answer
Hello Again Rich:

You can View a Breakdown of the Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.jackssmallengines.net/parts.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. The Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Ariens) and Enter the Model Numbers (924028). Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Select the Tractor Parts (part 2) File. Magnify the Breakdown 2 or 3 Times to get a Better View of the Components. Is the Drive Belt Idler Flat or a V Groove Idler. If it is Flat, then the Flat Side of the Belt Runs on this Pulley and If V Grooved, then the V Part of the Belt Runs on this Pulley. Most Usually this Idler is Flat. When the Drive is Not Engaged, the Idler is Away from the Belt and Not Applying Tension. When Engaged, the Pulley is Tight on the Flat Side of the Belt and the has Tension and Drives the Unit. For the Component you are Asking about. Use the Breakdowns and Direct me to the Part Using the Breakdown Number. This Way I can Correctly Instruct you on Where and How to Install it. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
