Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Starter For Victa Pro 12, engine details, rebuilder

I have been quoted a fairly hefty price for a starter for my B&S engine (details below). Is there anyone that rebuilds these starters, here in Australia or in the US?

The details of the B&S engine are as follows.

Model: 281707; Type: 0213-01; Code: 89062211

The body on the start is approximatel 4 5/16 inches long.

Either one of these starters will fit your engine.  Here is an aftermarket starter:

I have not used aftermarket starters but they cost much less than OEM.  As for rebuilding, we use a local electric motor rebuilder for rebuilding starters.  It is just as cheap for us to send them out since we don't have to stock the parts and the local shop usually has same day turn around.

Have you tried a local electric motor shop?
