Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kohler, spec numbers, model numbers

Question
I can't get my Kohler to run.Tore it down, rebuilt.Once in a while it'll fart out of the carb.Has spark, gas.I can't get the timing set like the book says.At the "s" mark the points should start to open. They start to open at tdc.Took it out and tore it down again to make sure the timing marks were  aligned or the crank and cam.I believe it's from the late 50' or early 60's.Spec #30108A , serial # 796926 , Model K181S.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,Joe...

Answer
Hello Joe:

Did you De-Glaze the Cylinder? If Not, then the Engine Does Not have Enough Compression to Start. Disassemble the Engine and De-Glaze the Cylinder. Is the Flywheel Key Damaged? Is the Point Set Gapped to .020in?
