Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Model Number, engine model type, riding lawn mower

Question
I hafe a MTD GT 2050 riding lawn mower and according to the mtd website the model number should be under the owner before changed the seats. Is there any other way to find the model and serial number?

Answer
There should be a sticker, about 3 inches long and 2 inches tall located on the rear fender area.  Do you have the engine model, type and code number?  With the engine code number you can get an approximate year of the mower and start there.
