Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD f910, point gap, f910

Question
John

My f910 mower rider now backfires and wants to stall out after 15 minutes or so of use. It seems to happen only when the engine is warm/hot... If i go back out the next day , same thing......  Fuel is being delivered, i changed the spark plugs/wires.... I am running a premim gas.... I'm thinking the coil/ignition module..Mower is probably over 20 years old, ad it appears it is the original...

Answer
Hello Mike:

From your Description it Does Sound like the Ign Module/Coil; However, After looking at the Breakdown, I See this Model Engine has the Point Set and the Cause is a Bad Condenser in the Point Set. Replace the Point Set. To Set the Point Gap; Place your Finger on the Point Set Plunger and when you Feel it Extent all the Way, STOP Turning the Engine. Set the Point Set Gap to .020in. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (F910) and Click Find. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
