Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro CCR2000 snowblower, toro ccr2000, carburetor body

Question
Dear John,

I have a 1995 Toro CCR2000 that had been doing well for the last 12 years until lately, when it would surge briefly after it was used for 20 min.  Then it would just idle at very low speed (no power to throw).  It keeps running at the low speed unless I turned it off.  I removed the cover and found the throttle got stuck and if I just pulled it (it surged) and then let go, it returned to normal and will run fine until it gets stuck again.
Can you tell me what causes it to be stuck?  Thanks.

Lynn

Answer
Hello Lynn:

Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. **If you Need Assistance in Locating the Model Numbers, then You can Go to this Site Addy; https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm and Select Step 1.**  The CCR2000 is the Series Model. The Reason for the Throttle Sticking can be a Dirty Carburetor or Bent Linkage. Clean and Lubricate the Throttle Control Bracket and Linkage. Clean and Lubricate the Carburetor Throttle Shaft. You May need to  **Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner (I Use Gunk). I have Found that Most People can Use a Breakdown/IPL and Disassemble the Carburetor Enough for Proper Cleaning. You Only have to Remove the Bowl (if Applicable), Float Pin (if Applicable), Float (if Applicable)  and Needle Valve and Any Adjustment Screws that Go Into the Carburetor Body. The Welch Plugs Do Not have to be Removed. Then Soak the Carburetor Body and Parts in a 1 Gallon Can of Gunk Carburetor Cleaner Overnight. The Can has a Parts Tray Inside it for the Small Parts. Once the Carburetor and Parts are in the Cleaner, you can Replace the Lid for Safety and to Prevent Accidental Spillage. Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Parts if Required.** If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
