Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wont start, compression stroke, spec numbers

Question
QUESTION: I have a tecumseh engine that is getting good spark and fuel, but won't start.  I removed the carb and blew it out.  It had some green stuff in it, but seemed fairly clean.  I set both screws to 1 1/2 turns from seated.  When I open the choke it fires and then I close it and I can get it to start for a sec or two, as soon as I try to give it gas it dies.  I checked the float and it is ok. Could it be the needle and seat.  I also tried another carb with a new needle, seat, and float and I couldn't get it to run either.  Also if I have good blue spark does that mean my points are ok?  I appreciate any help. Thanks

ANSWER: Hello Rick:

Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. However, if the Engine has Compression, Fire and Gas, then Check the Flywheel Key for Damage. If the Flywheel Key is Damaged, then the Plug Fires Out of Time During the Power (Compression) Stroke. Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have a PDF Site Addy that May Assist you Also. http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf  . You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the T. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers. Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing. If you have Blue Spark, then the Point Set/Ign Coil is Good. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hey John,
Thanks for the help.  I removed the flywheel and the key was still in place.  But, I found a loose magnet on the flywheel. I crazy glued it back on (all I had), put it back together and for a 1977 it runs like a dream.  What should be used to attach the magnets properly?  I was thinking something like liquid weld.
Thanks again for your help.
Rick

Answer
Hello Again Rick:

I Use E-Poxy from Advance or NAPA Auto Part Stores to Replace the Magnets. It is a 2 Part Epoxy that comes in a Syringe that Dispences the Epoxy in Equal Amounts so you Can Not Mix it Incorrectly.
