Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Husqvarna Chainsaw, husqvarna chainsaw, husqvarna logo

Question
Mr. Bridgers,

I own a Model 61 Husqvarna chainsaw.  The saw is approximately 20 years old.  The saw starts and runs fine until it gets warm. Then it just dies.  It will start immediately after but will not stay running.  This has been an awesome chainsaw.  In the 20 years that I have owned the saw this is the first time that there has been any problems.

Please advise,

SR

Answer
Hello Scott:

Check the Jug Bolts and Make Sure they are Still Tight. Check them when the Engine is Cold. Make Sure the Gas Tank Cap is Venting Properly. Make Sure you have a New Fuel Filter in the Tank. Make Sure the Exhaust Port, Spark Arrestor Screen (inside the Muffler Usually) and Muffler are Clear of Carbon and Allowing the Saw to Exhaust Properly. Check the Compression Cold and then Check the Compression Again when the Saw Get Warm and Quits. If the Compression is Below 80PSI when Hot, then the Saw Requires a Re-Ring. You May be Able to View the Husqvarna Model List at this Site Addy, http://www.partstree.com/parts/ and Click on the Husqvarna Logo. Now Enter the Model Numbers in the Search Box on the Left and Click Go. Now Select the Model of the Equipment you Wish to View. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
