Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): techumsa engine wont start, safety switches, spec numbers

Question
QUESTION: I have a Murry go kart that has been sitting out side for many years. We have put fresh gas in, cleaned the card and put in a new spark plug. But when we pull the pull cord, there is no spark. The engine is a techumsa power sport. We have checked for a spark on the cord that connects to the spark plug, but there is not one. Any ideas?

ANSWER: Hello William:

Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. If this is an Older Engine, then it is the Point Set Under the Flywheel. If a Newer WEngine, then it can be the Coil/Ign Module. The Model will Assist me to Assist you. Thanks.

QUESTION: The engine model is OHH60C. It is pull start.

Answer
Hello Again William:

Remove the Blower Housing (metal engine cover). The Wire that is Connected to the Coil/Ign Module from the Shut Off Switch needs to be Removed (unplugged) from the Coil/Ign Switch. Now Check for Spark at the Plug. If Spark, then the Shut Off Switch or the Wire is Bad. If Still No Spark, then the Coil/Ign Module is Bad. If there are Safety Switches on this Unit and the Coil is Good; you Need to Check the Safety Switches for Being Bad Also. This Unit has the Solid State Ign Coil. Tecumseh Part Number 34443A. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
