Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 700 simplicity tractor, simplicity tractor, spec numbers

Question
John,
I have a simplicity 700 garden tractor. The ignition is not working properly. Do
you know the procedure for adjusting the coil? (under the flywheel). Do you also
know of a conversion from this type of ignition? Thanks,
Bill

Answer
Hello Bill:

The Coil is Gapped to .020in from the Flywheel. What Exactly is the Ign System Doing? You can Use Cardboard from a Drink Carton and Place it Between the Coil and the Flywheel. Tighten the Coil and then Turn the Flywheel and Pull the Cardboard Out from Between the Flywheel and Coil. If this is a Point Set Ign System, then you can Purchase a Magnetron (Solid State Ign Coil) or Purchase a Solid State Ign Module ( Rotary PN 8786) to Do Away with the Old Point Set Ign System. The Engine OEM Dealer can Assit you in Locating the Part Numbers for a Magnetron Coil or Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
