Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): stihl chainsaw 066 magnum, muffler, flywheel

Question
Similar to the other compression problem.  I was using my 066 to mill boards when the muffler came loose.  I stopped the saw and put it back on.  When I tried to start the saw the rope ripped out of my hand.  It does it every time now and will not start.  Same issue? Or should I start looking elsewhere.  I did notice a small gouge in the piston just before putting the muffler back on.  Help.. Thank you,  Kevin

Answer
Hello Kevin:

Remove the Muffler and Try to Start the Engine. If the Compression Problem is Gone, then Check the Muffler and Spark Arrestor Screen for Carbon Blockage. If the Muffler or Spark Arrestor Screen are Blocked, the Engine can Not Exhaust Properly and Causes this Problem. If Not, then Remove the Flywheel and Check the Flywheel Key. If the Key is Damaged in the Slightest it will Cause the Plug to Fire to Early and Cause this Starting Problem. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
