Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): EZGO Golf Cart Elect/Battery Troubleshooting, ezgo golf cart, speed control

I have an older EZGO golf cart that will not run.  I had it worked on about a year ago.  The repair shop replaced the speed control device.  It is not under warranty.  I am mechanically enclined and would like to troubleshoot the problem myself but I need help.  The cart quit all of a sudden, similar to a year ago.  Can you tell me the steps to troubleshoot the electrical/batteries or direct me to a place that I can find a troubleshooting manual?
