Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Adding a light on a snowblower, trickle charger, adding a light

Question
Hello John
I purchased a Murray snow blower recently. It has an 8 HP Snow King engine made by Tecumseh. The engine model number is LH318SA and the specs number is 156595H, both taken from the decal on the engine housing. I would like to install a light on the snow blower and my question is: does this engine have an alternator to run the light? There is no loose wire terminal coming out of the housing which is supposed to indicate the presence of an alternator. Is there a way to check on that? In the absence of an alternator, is there any other way to add a light?

Many thanks for your help.

Best wishes for the new year.

Mike

Answer
Hello Mike:

There is No Stator/Alternator on this Engine. You can; 1- Install a Battery and Use a Seperate Trickle Charger to Charge the Battery when the Unit is Not in Use. 2- Contact your Local Small Engine Service Center and Give them the Make and Model Numbers and Ask them to Order a Stator/Alternator for this Engine (If Avaliable) and Install it Under the Flywheel. Then Wire up the Light Direct to the Stator. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Hello Again Mike:

I Just Read the Comments and Ratings. Thanks. I Usually Use a Motorcycle Battery and Wield Battery Bracket to the Unit. The Stator/Alternator Price Varies Depending on the Service Center that Sales it. Thanks Again.
