QuestionQUESTION: i got a snapper hydro,WLT16H42GBV, LE1642H,SN 11498381,VANGAURD 16 B&S. the pto keeps dropping out on the slightest of bumps in a yard the is totally flat. replacement of the pto switch didn't help. it wasn't a snapper pto switch but the shop repairman said it was the same switch. i also jumped the seat switch out (one open and one jumped). after approx 20 minutes of operation, the pto felt like it quit, but when i checked it i can hear the solenoid making. is it possible that i induced this trouble when i jumped the seat switch out or is just time to do some heavy maintenance and replace belt, bushings, idlers etc? i believe it's a 2001 model. it's also getting very hard to press the clutch/brake to make the start switch. as you can tell i don't work on mowers often. thanks very much for your time.

Check ALL the PTO Ground Connections. Usually this is Caused by a Bad Ground. If you have an Ohmmeter, you can Check the PTO and Know if it is Bad. The Most Common Cause for this Problem is the PTO Ground. A Quick Ground Check is to Use Another Wire and Ground the PTO at the Harness Connection Nearest the PTO. Be Carefull and Do Not Ground the HOT Wire. Use a Multimeter and Locate the Ground Wire. Clean the PTO Ground and All the Connections for the PTO Wiring Harness. If you have an Ohmmeter, Disconnect the Wiring Harness from the Front of the Clutch and Check the Resistance of the Clutch. You should have around 4 or 5 OHMs. If at or near Zero, the Coil has Shorted. You can View a Breakdown/IPL at this Site Addy, http://www.emerichsales.com/parts-browse.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Now Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Snapper). Then Enter the Model Numbers. Now Double Click on your Model. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. QUESTION: sorry, the mower ins't a priority during hunting season. the drawings for this mower has a note that saids the seat switches are to be considered shorted if they are disconnected. if i disconnected the switch that should be an open contact WHEN you are sitting on seat, does the mean it will be shorted instead of open.

I Know What you mean. Hunting Comes First at my Home Also. My Kids Love Deer Meat and I have to Stock the Freezer or they would Starve. So they Say. lol. I Hope you had Good Luck with your Hunting. Basically, they are Saying the Switch is to be Considered Grounded because the Ign System can Not Fire the Engine with the Switch Disconnected. To Check this Switch you Unplug the Switch and Install a Jumper in the Harness. The Jumper Wire will Act as if Someone is Setting on the Mower Seat. Some Safety Systems Use the Switches to Complete the Ign Circuit and Others Use the Safety Switches to Ground the Ign Circuit.
