Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): MTD snow thrower will not run, spec numbers, empty tank

Question
Hello I have an older MTD 5hp 2 stage snow thrower. It has ran great the last few years. I started it up about three months ago to make sure it was running before the snow came. It started fine and I ran all the fuel out of it. Today I put new fuel in an empty tank and when I press the primer fuel comes out of the primer ball and shoots out near the carb. The machine will run with starting fluid, but dies as soon as it burns up the starting fluid. I know very little/none about engine repair. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Shawn

Answer
Hello Shawn:

The Problem is the Carburetor Primer Bulb is Bad, But I Really Suggest you Soak and Clean the Carburetor. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Thanks.
