Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears Snow Thrower (536 905802), tank fuel, snow thrower

Question
I have a snow thrower that has sat (diesel in gas tank) for years. I drained the tank, fuel line and carb and cleaned. I also changed the oil and spark plug. It still will not start. What can I do?
All I could get from Sears online is the IPB.

Answer
Rob,

Check to make sure that the plug is properly gapped.  You may have to overhaul the carb.  Most of the time, in situations similar to yours, I find that usually the carb gets gummed up with the resin from the gas sitting in it.  WAS IT SUPPOSED TO HAVE DIESEL FUEL?  IF NOT, YOUR PROBLEMS MAY BE WORSE THAN NORMAL.
TRY FEEDING A TABLESPOON OF GAS IN THROUGH THE SPARK PLUG OPENING.  IF IT STARTS, THEN YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS NO GAS GETTING TO THE CARB.
GET BACK TO ME IF YOU NEED TO.
