Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro snowblower., new spark, safety switch

Question
I have a toro model 524 snow blower.  it worked great last season until the last time i went to start it.  i have now found the cause is no spark.  after wiggiling some wires i got it to spark, and put it back together and it fired for a second, but now am unable to get it to spark again.  my guess is that it is a safety switch or something...  is there an easy way to find which one isn't working, or to bypass the whole system?  or test my theory?  thank you.

Answer
Dear Jason,
I am not sure I am familiar with Toro's Model 524.  It sounds as if a new spark plug might help.  Filing the end of the spark plug square is a good trick to help with starts.  it sound like a good spark plug tester would verify if there's any spark from the spark plug. The first place to start is checking the spark plug itself.  Then the wire leading to the spark.  I don't believe the safety switch is stopping the machine from starting.  have you checked whether the machine needs fresh gas?

Hope this information is useful to you.
