Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Victa power tourque 160cc, decompressor, variances

Question
Hi Eric i know that you have probaly been asked this a thousand times but it is a little hard to find a response on the web page as there are so many other responses.
But what sort of compression can i expect with my victa power tourque while the decompressor is still connected. is 70-75 Lb reasonable or does it need an overhall. kind regards Anthony

Answer
Many 4 cycle manufactures do not publish compression specs due to the variances between engines.

The compression is a little low but it depends what you are using the engine for to justify overhauling or not.

What is the engine on?  If you want maximun performance, and can afford the parts and machine costs then I would rebuild it with an oversized piston by boring the cylinder, installing a new conntecting rod and replacing the valves.  Keep in mind it may be more cost effective just to replace the entire engine based on todays labor costs.

Let me know if this helps.
Eric
