Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): kawasaki fc420 oil slinger, type wings, steel pin

Question
QUESTION: The engine in question is a Kawasaki FC420 14 HP which is used on a John Deere Mower.  I have the engine completely disassembled.  However, I need to remove the oil slinger from the oil sump pan.  Its a small plastic gear attached to   steel pin and the pin it is attached to or sits in a round mount  hole on the bottom of the oil sump pan.  I see no way to pull the slinger from the mount hole.  It does not simply slide out of the hole.  I have tried moving the butterfly type wings which sit on the top of the slinger but it does not help nor seem to matter.  The slinger does not come out of the hole.  Yes I have removed the other part of the slinger (the drive gear for the slinger) which removed easily because it has large nuts that can easily be removed. There is no screw or bolt or pin or nut etc which I can find which holds the slinger into the mounting hole on the bottom of the pan.  Is there a way to remove the slinger gear or do I need to cut it out somehow?   or rip it off the mount?  I fear that if I rip it off the mount, the oil sump pan might be damaged somehow?  Can you give me some guidance please?

QUESTION: thank you
this is an S01.  No I am not talking about the oil pump.  Its the oil slinger at the very bottom of the oil sump pan.  It sits on top of a mount of about 2 inches tall.   The slinger rotates on the shaft which goes into the mount.  I do not see a way to remove the shaft from the mount.

Thank you so much for your help.

Mike

ANSWER: Hello Mike:

Sorry for the Misunderstanding. The Term Oil Slinger is what Threw me. I Answer Many Questions and at Times I forget the Questioners Do Not Know the Names of the Components they May be Asking About or have the Components Names Wrong. You are Asking About the Governor and the Governor Support. The Governor Support is a Part of the Sump/Oil Pan. The Gear and the "Wings" of the Governor are Replaceable without Replacing the Sump/Oil Pan. If the Governor Support is Bent, then Replace the Sump/Oil Pan. You can View a Breakdown of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.buykawpower.com/kmcb2c/main.jsp and Select View Parts Catalog. Select 4 Stroke Engines. Now Select your Model. The Governor Gear is Shown in the Control - Equipment Folder. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

QUESTION: ok  thank you a ton.  Yes I was very wrong as to the name of the part.  It is the govenor gear.  The mount is not bent buy the gear is wrecked.  I simply did not see any way to remove the gear without wrecking the mount etc.  From the diagram, it looks like maybe the gear can be removed by pulling the center stud of the butterfly wings?  I guess I just use a plyers to pull it?   I will try it tomorrow.  If I can get the gear off, the rest is easy.

Answer
Hi Mike:

That Sounds Correct. The Center Cap May be Damaged and Causing the Removal Problem. Usually they Lift Right Off by Hand. Some have an E-Clip Under the Cap and it has to be Removed to Remove the Governor Gear. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
