Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Cub 2185 not starting, cub cadet 2185, crankshaft pulley

Question
John, I have a 95 cub cadet 2185 serial 385641 (kohler twin). I just finished winterizing: changed oil filters etc and attached the snowblower.  When I turn the key, (brake on, in seat) the starter clicks once without starting the engine.  Any suggestions as to the problem.  Lots of snow on the ground and getting to a mech. is difficult.

Answer
Hello Derrick:

Is the Battery Fully Charged? If you Remove the Belts from the Engine Crankshaft Pulley, Will the Engine Turn as Normal? Has the Starter Been Checked for Bad Brushes or Bushings? If the Engine was Starting Good and the Only thing Different is the Snow Thrower has Been Attached, then Remove the Belts from the Crankshaft Pulley First. There May be a Drag on the Engine from the Snow Thrower. You can View a Breakdown of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://www.emerichsales.com/home.asp and Select Shop Online, Parts and Accessories. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Cub Cadet) and Enter the Proper Model Numbers (Usually Located Under the Seat). Then Double Click on your Model. Now Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. The Numbers 2185 are the Series Numbers. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
