Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears Generator, hp engine, old timer

Question
I have an older Sears 3000 watt generator.  I found the model # 580327320
and with that I went to sears and found (surprise) discontinued.  I have been
looking all over the engine to try to find the manufacturer of this 7 hp engine.
Sears list the engine as #143.667052.

I have no idea what kind of engine it was.  I bought it in the 80's at it is called
a Craftsman engine.

I dug it out of my chop, changed the oil, installed a new spark plug and
added gas and it would not even spark and fire once.  I removed the carb, and
cleaned it out.  After I reinstalled the carb, I gave it a shot of carb cleaner and
tried to start it and it fired up but just burned carb cleaner and stopped.
There is no question that the carb was pretty gummed up.  I just do not know
how to go about getting a rebuild kit for this old timer.  Or maybe I can get
this motor to just keep running.

What can I do?

That is a Tecumseh engine Model # HS40-55482G The problem if you install a rebuild kit you will have to really clean it and clean all the parts including the choke, throtle and seats, which some times wont clean up good and will take alot of time and it still may not work properly. If you need a carb Rebuild kit or a carburetor  We have them on our web site. www.gbelect.net They are around $78.00 for the carb plus shipping. The kit is around $10.76
