Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Husquvarna 66 wont start, husqvarna logo, compression stroke

Question
I have a husky 66 ser#824273608 that will not start or even hit like it wants to start.  I got this saw a few years ago but have only ran it one time.(it has a bow bar and I haven't needed that much)  I figured it needed a carb kit so I put one in.  I pulled the plug and laid it on the cylinder it has plenty of fire. Compression is 60 1st pull 90 2nd and 110 on 3rd.  I have put a cap full of mixed gas in carb and also sprayed a little starting fuild in cylinder then put plug right on and pulled. I have yet to get it to even sound like it wants to start.  Any suggestions on what to try?  Thanks.

Answer
Hello Johnny:

From your Description, it Sounds like the Engine has Good Compression and you have Tried the Gas in the Carburetor Throat and the Engine has Fire to the Plug. 1- Remove the Muffler and Inspect the Exhaust Port for Carbon Blocking the Exhaust Port. Check the Muffler and Spark Arrestor Screen (in the muffler) for Blockage Also. If the Exhaust Port is Restricted, then the Engine Can Not Draw Gas Into the Cylinder and Causes the Problem you Described. 2- Check the Flywheel Key. If the Flywheel Key is Damaged, the Plug will Fire at the Wrong Time During the Compression Stroke and the Engine will Not Run even though it has Compression, Gas and Fire. You can View the Husqvarna Model List at this Site Addy, http://www.partstree.com/parts/ and Click on the Husqvarna Logo. Now Enter the Model Numbers (66) in the Search Box on the Left and Click Go. Now Select the Model of the Equipment you Wish to View. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
