Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): sears gt 5000 lower deck wont turn on, safety switches, lower deck

Hello
My wife was cleaning up leaves in yard when all of a sudden lower deck stopped running. I checked switch output for power and it was good. I ohmed out clutch drive and I get infinity. No wires appear to be chaffed. Any suggestions where to go from here. A new clutch drive is $285 at Sears, if it is bad any other place to buy one cheaper?

Have you checked to make sure that the clutch wires are hooked up correctly and the safety switches on the equipment are not disconnected? That would prevent the clutch from engaging. Try to put 12 volts on the 2 clutch wires to see if it engages,you should hear a click when you put power on it. If you do not hear a click the clutch is bad. we have a lot of sears parts in stock and allot cheaper than sears. I will need the model # of the equipment it will allow me to look up the part # cross reference.
