Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): cam or valves, husqvarna logo, kawasaki motor

Question
I have a husqvarna 2248xp lawnmower with 300 hrs on it. It has a kawasaki motor, every since i bought the mower the valves had to be adjusted at least 5 times in 4 years. Now one cylinder is not firing. So i put a igntion coil on it that didnt do nothing. I took the mower back to where I bought it and he said that he thinks the cam is bad. how would u know if the cam is bad without tearing into it. the motor (fh641v)

Answer
Hello Jon:

Remove the Valve Cover and Then Turn the Engine By Hand. Watch or Feel the Push Tubes and Rocker Arms. They Should Move Enough (Approximately 1/4") to Open the Valves Properly. Have you been Putting Thread Lock (Blue) on the Valve Adjustment Locks? This Helps Prevent the Adjuster from Loosening. You can View a Breakdown of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.buykawpower.com/kmcb2c/main.jsp and Select View Parts Catalog. You can View the Husqvarna Model List at this Site Addy, http://www.partstree.com/parts/ and Click on the Husqvarna Logo. Now Enter the Model Numbers in the Search Box on the Left and Click Go. Now Select the Model of the Equipment you Wish to View. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
