Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Mccullough MAC 3200 Model ??600032-07 starts but wont run, carb settings, diaphragms

Question
I have a mcculough 3200 that I just replaced the primer bulb and fuel lines.  It will start but when I give it throttle it dies.  I have to pull it many times with and without choke to get is going but it dies everytime.  I may have bumped the hi low carb settings and don't know what they are.  It ran before I changed the primer bulb also.  I really believe these symptoms are related to the carb settings but will get fresh fuel and make sure I have a 32:1 mix tomorrow.  I may have used 50:1 mix from my outboard. Any direction is appreciated.

Answer
Many times if the fuel lines are hard/brittle so are the carburetor diaphragms.

Before you sink a lot of money in this unit I would check the engine compression.  You should have at least 90 PSI of compression.  If the compression is good and you have good spark then I would recommend rebuilding the carb.  This consists of replacing the diaphragms and gaskets.  I would use compressed air from an air compressor and carburetor cleaner to clean the carb.
If you take the carburetor to a small engine shop they can get you the parts/kit you need and/or rebuild the carb for you.

Let me know if this helps.
