Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lesco blower with 8hp Briggs & Stratton, briggs stratton engine, walk behind leaf blower

Question
I have acquired a used Lesco walk behind leaf blower. I am trying to figure out what the RPM should be at full throttle for normal operation. It has an Industrial Plus 8hp Briggs & Stratton engine. (Model 196432, Type 1124 E1, Code 971212YD). I know how to set the governor but information I have found on the RPM setting seems to refer to the equipment manufacturers recommended settings. I can't find any model number on the Lesco housing and have not been able to find any Lesco Manuals on the blower. I do have a Tachometer to check it but I just don't know what RPM it should be at.

Answer
Hello Chris:

The Engine Idle Speed is Between 1100 RPMs and 1750 RPMs. I Usually Set the Idle ao the Engine Performs to My Requires Needs. On Some Mowers the Idle is Just at 1750 and on Others it May be as Low as 1100 RPMs. Briggs Suggest 1750 as the Idle Speed for your Engine. The High Speed RPMs are Regulated by the Governor Control Spring Attached to the Governor Arm. Usually this Speed is Between 2800 - 3600 RPM Depending on the Engine Application. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model and Type Numbers (first 4 digits Only). Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
