Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda GX670, swing blade, arinet

Question
QUESTION: I have a Honda GX670 engine on a Peterson swing blade sawmill. It has not done a lot of work. It has been running fine until recently, when it stopped as though out of petrol. It starts and runs for between five & ten seconds before stopping, there is no problem with the fuel supply. If I dissconect the wire that runs to the little black box, (behind the cowl). and from there to both coils it will run perfectly. What is the problem? It is not low oil level.  Any help appreciated.  Regards, Norman

ANSWER: Hello Norman:

The Black Box is the Engine Stop Diade Assembly (part # 31740-ZJ1-861). From your Description the Engine Stope Diode Requires Replacing. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower/Engine at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram and Select the Catalog American Honda. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, then I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck

QUESTION: Dear John,  Many thanks for your help. Do you think it is more likely to be the stop diode, rather than a faulty oil level sensor.  Regards, Norman

Answer
Hi Norman:

In Order to Properly Instruct you on How to Check the Oil Sensor; Send me the Complete Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Example: GX670 QAF, GX670 TFX4, ect. Thanks.
