Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh OVXL120 loose oil dipstick tube, oil dipstick, dip stick

Question
The oil dipstick tube is loose. It spins around when I try to check the oil level. The attached bracket does not hold it in place. How do I remedy this problem?

Answer
Hello Jim:

On Some Model Tecumseh Engines the Dip Stick Tube is Screwed Into the Block to Seat it and the Bracket is a Support for the Tube. Other Models the Tube has an O-Ring and is Simply Pushed Down Into the Block and the Bracket Holds the Tube while Seated and Supports the Tube. If the Tube is the Screw In Type and it Does Not Tighten, then the Tube will Require Replacing. If the Tube has the Ears for the Bracket to Hold the Tube Seated and the Ears are Broken, then the Tube will have to be Replaced. The Tube and Dip Stick Part Number is 35837 and is Listed for $10.55us Dollars at Outdoor Distributors Online. Their Site Addy Follows. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the T. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers. Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing. Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have a PDF Site Addy that May Assist you Also. http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, then I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
