Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): problem with self-propelled JD walk behind, crankshaft pulley, sb14

Question
the self-propelled drive on my SM 14 is not working. when I pull the cover off, the gears don't run when I start the mower, though it otherwise works fine. Any thoughts?

Is the Drive Belt Intact and Turning the Transmission Input Pulley? If the Belt is Not Turning, then Check the Crankshaft Pulley and Pulley Key. If the Belt is Turning the Input Pulley, then the Problem is Most Likely Internal. I Could Not Locate a Breakdown or Fiche of the SM Mower so I Used a Breakdown of the SB Mower. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (14) and Click Find. Then Select the Push Mower Files for the SB14. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
