Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 20 hp kohler, safety switches, safety relay

Question
QUESTION: I have an older Cub cadet with a 20hp kohler model M20 engine. I lost spark a week ago. I checked grounds and concluded the coil module was faulty. I replaced the module. It started right up and ran for about 10 minutes. I pulled a plug and checked spark again. there  was none. Could something be taking out the module???

ANSWER: Hello Phil:

The Coil/Ign Module/Magnetron May be Bad. I Take them Out of the Box and have Found some Bad Ones. Does this Mower have the Safety Switches or the Safety Relay? Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: It is an M20S, spec no. 49512. I disconnected the lead to the coil and it still had no spark. there are safety switches, when they are engaged the unit will not turn over. It does turn over now, but no spark.

Answer
Hello Again Phil:

If the Plug Does Not Fire with the Shut Off Lead Disconnected, then the Magnetron/Coil/Module is Bad. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model Numbers (M20-49512). Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. Hope this Helps.
