Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn Boy gas/oil mix, synthetic motor oil, stroke oils

Question
John- I have an older Lawn Boy 2 cycle mower Model 8255,serial 8218329 and it calls for a 16/1 ratio.I was curious whether a 32/1 ratio would harm the engine.  I have read some articles stating that a 32/1 ratio would work in the older engines.  I found the mower on the curb, and it runs great.  Every other 2 cycle I have uses the 32/1 mix. I just want to simplify everything into one mix bottle. Thanks, Jeff

Answer
Hello Jeff:

Today's two stroke oils compared to yesteryears are more efficient at lubricating.  It is like comparing today's synthetic motor oil to motor oils of decades ago.  All the equipment I use in landscaping, anything from a weed eater, leaf blower, chainsaw, hedge trimmer and I use all types of makes and models, Stihl, Homelite, Husqvarna, Shindaiwa, and Echo, Sears.  I mix up a 5 Gallon fuel can at a 32:1 Ratio and use it in all of the equipment for my customers and for my landscaping. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
