Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 3.5 hp Briggs & Stratton, briggs stratton, hp briggs

Question
I have a 3.5hp horizontal shaft engine on an MTD edger. It has a fixed jet carb mounted on top of the fuel tank. The throttle & choke are mounted to the tank & carb. I need to separate the carb from the tank so I can clean the screen on the bottom of the fuel pick-up tube. I removed the four (4) screws from the carb & tank but the carb will not separate from the tank. It appears that something in the tank is holding the carb. I can see a round casting in the tank but not sure how to separate the two.
The engine is about four years old. It is in the Family YBSXS.1481HH   274459. I could not find a model number, just the family. The engine runs fine spraying carb cleaner in the carb throat.
Could you share the secret to separating the carb from the tank please.

Thank You for your assistance in this matter

Answer
Hello Joel:

Look into the Carburetor Throat. Usually there is a Screw (the Filter Mounting Bolt May be Holding it Also) that has to be Removed and Most People Miss it. The Model, Type and Code Numbers are Stamped Into the Blower Housing. You May Need to Replace the Pulse Pump Diaphragm Also. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
