Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Re: Repair lawn mower, hp engine, 12 volt

Question
The mower is a Ferris IS 3000- Kawasaki 25 HP engine 721V with 1 1/8" crankshaft.
Where does the wire that plugs in to the top of the coil go to? Would it be okay to bypass all of the electrical components and hook it directly to 12 volt positive? Should a spark occur if I turn the motor over with the starter?

Answer
Hello Jeff:

The Wire Goes to the Ignition Switch and is Grounded When the Ignition Switch is in the Off Position. It is Neutral (Not Hot or Grounded) When the Ignition Switch is Turned On. The Grounding of the Coil Stops the Plug From Firing. You can View a Breakdown of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.buykawpower.com/kmcb2c/main.jsp and Select View Parts Catalog. Now Select the Engine Type (2 Cycle, 4 Cycle). The Select your Engine Model. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
