Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere RX63 engine, crankshaft diameter, kawasaki engine

Question
QUESTION: What replacement engines would fit a John Deere RX63 riding lawn mower?  Now it has the factory 6 horse Kawasaki engine and it is in need of replacement.

ANSWER: Hello Dustin:

JD Does Not Offer a List of Replacement Engines for this Mower. The Replacement Engine Listed by JD is a FA210-ASOO (JD #Am102413). Usually if the Crankshaft Diameter and Length is the Same, the Engines will Interchange. I Suggest No Lower than a 5hp and No Higher than an 8hp Engine for a Replacement. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: Do you have any information on the crankshaft diameter and length or know of any possible websites?  It is hard to measure the length with the engine still installed on the mower.

Answer
Hi Again Dustin:

I have Not Located a Site with this Information as Yet. Also, Unless you Purchased this Mower New, you Can Not be Sure the Original Engine is On the Frame. Usually I Remove the Belts from the PTO (if one) or the Stack Pulley. Then Remove the PTO or Stack Pulley from the Crankshaft. Then Measure the Crankshaft Length from the Oil Pan to the End of the Shaft. The Measure the Diameter. I Know it is a Pain to Get the Figures this Way, but I Feel it is Better to be Safe than Sorry. Thanks.
