Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawnboy 8237 low power, oxy acetylene, assembly drawings

Question
I enjoyed your past comments on lawnboys.  Mine ha slow power, starts feebly, then builds to speed in 10 seconds.  Makes a little blues smoke.  Bogs in heavy grass.

I decided to take off the muffler and ran into a wall -- I can't get the square blade driving flange off.  It has some grey color to the steel where it fits onto the crankshaft, and three dash shaped dimples as though it was spot welded on...  I tried pulling it off with a puller that used two holes in it for pulling, but one side started to bend instead of it coming off.  I'm thinking of putting some oxy-acetylene heat to it and rapping it.

What do you think?

Thanks,

John Griessen

Answer
Hello John:

You will Most Likely Require Heat to Remove the Blade Adapter. I Usually Attach a Puller, Tighten and then Add Heat to the Adapter. Usually it Pops Off when the Heat and a Good Slap from a Hammer. After you Check the Exhaust and If the Exhaust is Clear, then Check the Compression. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm?xCaller=LawnBoy and Select Start Parts Viewer. Then Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search. Then Select View Assembly Drawings. Then Select the Component you Wish to View. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
