Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): scotts mod. #228670x84, eng. mod. #ovrm120 tecumseh, walk behind lawn mower, head bolts

Question
I HAVE A SCOTTS WALK BEHIND LAWN MOWER. I HAVE CLEANED OUT THE OLD GAS THAT WAS IN THE TANK AND REPLACED THE FUEL LINE.
I HAVE CLEANED THE BOWL ON THE CARB AND LIBERALLY SPRAYED INSIDE AND OUT ON THE CARB. THE PLUG HAS SPARK. I GET THE ENGINE TO START ON 2-3 PULLS, BUT IT DIES BEFORE YOU CAN TRY ANY ADJUSTMENTS.  OIL IS O.K.  THIS WAS ORIGINALLY A ELECTRIC START WITH PULL CORD. I AM STARTING (TRYING) WITH THE PULL CORD. IF I HAVE FUEL, SPARK ETC. WHY CAN'T I KEEP IT RUNNING?

Answer
The most likely cause of your problem is a blocked orfice in the carburetor.  Did you blow each carburetor passage/orfice with compressed air from an air compressor?  Are the head bolts tight?
Let me know if you cleaned the carb with an air compressor.
