Answer
Hello Barry:

From your Description, it Sounds like the Connecting Rod Inside the Engine has Broken. You can Repair this 3 Ways. 1- Replace the Rod (and Crankshaft if Damaged). 2- Purchase a Short Block and Use the Components from your Engine to the Short Block to Make a Complete Engine. You Get a Warranty with the Short Block. This is a Good Route to Take if the External Components of your Engine are Good. 3- Purchase a New Engine. You get a warranty with the New Engine. The Turning the Engine with your Finger over the Spark Plug Hole and Feeling No Compression when the Engine was Turned, tells me the Connecting Rod has Broken. I Usually Suggest Purchasing a Short Block for this Repair. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model and Type Numbers (406777-0128). Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Find. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
