Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro hydrostatic drive, hydrostatic drive, transaxle

Question
Hi. I have Toro model 17-44HXL. When the drive is cold it runs fine. As it warms up it starts to make a loud whining noise and also starts slipping. The warmer the drive gets the louder the whine and the more it slips. I'm afraid the transaxle is shot. Do you know of a way to alleviate this problem, short of rplacing the transaxle? (Expensive!!)

Answer
Hello Kevin:

From your Description, it Sounds like you are Correct. The Hydros Internal Pump is Bad. The More the Hydro is Operated the Worse the Hydro Operates. The Whine is the Pump. Replace the Mower or the Transaxle. The Numbers you Sent me are the Series Model Numbers. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
