Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman, 6.5 horsepower eager-1, eager 1, oil chamber

Question
I was helping my boyfriend mow the lawn when the engine died. There was white smoke in the oil chamber when I opened the cap (completely empty), so I added more oil- but way too much (like a quart). Now it runs fine (white smoke a little) but as soon as it hits grass it dies. Have I broken it? How do I fix it? I've read your other postings and maybe its an air filter problem?

Answer
Hello Ninny:

If the Oil is a Quart Over Filled, then Drain it to the Proper Level. This will cause a Power Loss. If Returning the Oil to the Proper Level Does Not Correct the Problem, then Send me the Model Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Thanks.
