Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Timing marks on 18 hp Briggs, hp briggs, crank shaft

Question
I need to know how to line up the cam and crank shaft timing marks on 2 cyl. 18 hp briggs engine Thank you Jim

Answer
Hello Jim:

The Timing Marks are Set with Number 1 Cylinder. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model and Type Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. Number 1 Cylinder Should be Almost TDC when the Timing Mark on the Crankshaft and the Mark on the Cam are MATCHED UP. Put DOT to DOT. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
