Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wiring a craftsman 28N707, starter solenoid, question pool

Question
hi I've taken apart my engine and I'm planning to use it for a go kart. the problem I've been having is that i cant find where to attach one of the wires I've removed. Its a stand alone black insulated wire with a green tag. The connection piece attached to it would attach to one small thin piece of metal. Without this wire plugged in the starter doesn't seem to want to turn.I was hoping you could direct me where it goes if you know. i know its probably not something wrong with the engine or starter because it worked fine before i started working on it. all other wires are connected properly because they were labelled. any help is appreciated

Answer
Hello Michael:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool. I am Lost on this One. It the Starter is Mounted to the Engine and is Grounding Good, then When the Ign Switch is Turned to the Start Position; it Sends Current to the Starter Solenoid and the Solenoid Allows Voltage to Flow from the Battery to the Large Post of the Starter and the Starter Will Turn the Engine. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. Look Over the Breakdown and See if you can Locate the Wire In Question, Please. I am Thinking the Wire is Either the Coil Shut Off Wire or the Alternator/Stator Wire. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
